Transocean Working With OML
You probably know we need batteries to power the energy transition. But did you know that, as of today, we likely don’t have enough of the metals required to meet our future needs? Transocean is working with Ocean Minerals LLC and their affiliate, Moana Minerals, to solve this problem by exploring and researching polymetallic nodules on the sea floor near the Cook Islands. These naturally occurring, poly-metallic nodules are rich in manganese, nickel, and cobalt—precisely what’s needed to make lithium-ion batteries for powering homes, electric cars, and other devices around the world. We’re excited to leverage our deep-water operations experience to contribute to the future of renewable energy! For more information, read our press release and visit Moana Minerals.
